The UAAP will once again kick off this weekend so let’s browse the UAAP annals for a bit. In 1984, Game 3 of the UAAP Finals, two high-scoring long range bombers brought the house down with their incredible marksmanship.
Allan Caidic, who would later be known as the “The Triggerman,” tallied 46 points to give UE the win and the championship. Pido Jarencio, meanwhile, who would be labeled as “The Fireman” in the pros, had 48 points for UST. They shot the ball unconsciously that day and may have unknowingly put on the greatest shooting duel in the country’s college basketball history.
Jarencio got a shot at revenge a year later as the rivals faced off again in the finale. Caidic and the Red Warriors, however, didn’t let up and they defended their title.
