2014 PBA Philippine Cup (Women) Power Rankings

October 17, 2014
With the announcement of the list of muses in the opening ceremonies of the 40th PBA season, it’s high time for the first BuhayBasket Team Power Ranking for the 2014 Philippine Cup (or what your uncle calls the All-Filipino Cup).

Yes, we can discuss team strengths/weaknesses, bench depth, rotations, coaches’ offensive system or defensive capabilities of each squad to gauge their chances for the Pure Pinoy title, but we can also choose to make the process simpler: judge the teams via their muses. We ranked the ladies from 1 to 12 and see if it will reflect their eventual finish in the opening conference.

Full disclosure: this writer started watching the league religiously as Ato “Atom Bomb” Agustin was exploding in the PBA. Weirdly during the same years, this writer was watching Alice Dixon play Faye in the now-defunct TV series Okay Ka, Fairy Ko (obviously, no bias at all in the most objective PBA power rankings this preseason).

Disclaimer: This writer didn’t consult other members of the BuhayBasket team (perhaps he wanted to be left alone for deep introspection and painstaking analysis with this incredibly difficult article). Other BuhayBasket members vehemently disagree on the order of the rankings. One team member, who shall forever remain anonymous, has the hots for 9th place (9th?! Really?!) Diane Medina.

????????????????????????????????????????????????

All we know is that Nathalie den Dekker is from the Netherlands and is the 2013 Miss International runner-up. Watch her get traded to SMB for a bag of peanuts on opening day.

11. Blackwater Elite – Sunshine Cruz

Sunshine Cruz

Meh. Sunshine Cruz was hot years ago. You can all blame ex-husband?

12. Kia – Jinkee Pacquiao
