Mike Swift recently put together another edition of Picnic Games. People from all over Manila descended upon the Tenement Homes in Taguig to enjoy one full day of basketball, barbecue and great tunes.

Mike has been organizing these events together for a few months now and aims to make each event better than the last. His ultimate goal though is to make this a worldwide phenomenon. “Our goal with Picnic Games doesn’t stop here in the Tenement. We wanna take it all across the nation and also all over the world starting with France, New York City, Australia, Dubai, Toronto.”

When asked why Filipinos love basketball so much, Mike cited escapism as a major reason. “I feel like it just kinda takes you away from that everyday stress and pressure that society can give a person. Basketball is just a way to release all of that and be away from everything that’s stressful.”

Picnic Games 5 had everything: a marching band, barbecue, obstacle courses and basketball. You don’t want to miss the next one.
