Starting 5ive: The Philippine Centennial Team

August 1, 2016
To give the Philippines its fifth gold medal at the William Jones Cup, PH-Mighty Sports swept the competition in dominating fashion. A squad composed of PBA legends, including 7’1″ EJ Feihl, did the same in ’98. Let’s remember them here in pixelated goodness.

In 1998, two things happened in Philippine basketball: Michelle Aldana was muse of Gordon’s Gin Boars, and the Philippine Centennial Team was formed. Let’s focus on the latter, shall we?

This Philippine team had one of the strongest lineups in history, led by two of Philippine basketball’s best coaches–Tim Cone (head coach) and Chot Reyes (assistant coach):

Centers – Marlou Aquino, Andy Seigle, EJ Feihl
Forwards – Alvin Patrimonio, Vergel Meneses, Jun Limpot, Dennis Espino, Kenneth Duremdes
Guards – Allan Caidic, Johnny Abarrientos, Jojo Lastimosa, Olsen Racela, Jeffrey Cariaso
