BuhayBasket’s NBA Fantaserye

We made it.  It’s been 121 days since the last official NBA game (not counting the preseason games of course), and we’re down to the last 8 days until the start of the 2018-2019 NBA season.

You’ve probably went through the whole process of trying to a basketball fix the past four months – played in your barangay leagues; watched the FIBA, PBA, Big3, UAAP games; surrendered your wallet for NBA 2K19; joined at least 2 NBA Fantasy leagues; talked to friends about NBA trade rumors that would make Tito Butch and Cristy Fermin proud.

In the next 8 days, Jeff and Jon will try to do something that has NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE, make a list of an “All-time” roster per each of the playoff teams last season.  Just kidding, this has probably been done thousands of times already.

What we’ll do instead is take the current starting five of a team, plus a sixth man and do a head-to-head against another team – the twist is, we’ll allow one hugot, any player from that team from up until the 90s.  It’s very complicated but super simple, right? – it’s an argument that no one could possibly win too because it’s all hypothetical.  But hypothetical is fun. And knowing you’re right is more fun.

So tomorrow we’ll start off with the 8th seeds – Jeff tries to be the GM for the Portland Trailblazers and go up against the East’s bottom seed last season – the Chicago Bulls (I wonder who he’s picking as the hugot)

Check the site out tomorrow as we do the first ever BuhayBasket NBA Fantaserye.

About the author

Jeff Arrienda

Jeff Arrienda works for a number-crunching, paper-chasing 9-to-5 job. He’d rather play point for Barangay Ginebra or the Golden State Warriors, but lacked a growth spurt as an adolescent. Despite being glued to his room playing NBA 2K, he still manages to regularly shoot hoops with real people, mastering the art of no-call chops, shoves, and clotheslines every now and then. If you need to find him, check your regular barangay liga, he’s the guy at the end of the bench eating pizza.
